KITCHEN REMODELING

Licensed general contractor since 2009

Kitchen Remodeling in San Marcos, CA

Model Home, Inc. is a kitchen remodeling contractor in San Marcos, CA, licensed as a general contractor since 2009 (CSLB #927826), serving Carlsbad, Oceanside and the rest of North County San Diego. We handle every step of a kitchen remodel: the layout and design, plans and permits, cabinets, countertops and finishes, and the build through to completion. We have never had an unsatisfied customer.

A kitchen remodel brings many trades into one room: demolition, framing, plumbing, electrical, cabinets, countertops, backsplash tile, flooring, trim and paint. We supply the cabinets, countertops, tile and flooring and coordinate every trade, so one licensed contractor is responsible for the whole kitchen instead of a cabinet shop, a stone fabricator and a handful of subcontractors you manage yourself. Choose your materials at our San Marcos showroom, 1070 Commerce St, Suite F. If you don't see what you want, just ask. We can source it.

Kitchen Remodeling Experience Since 2009

Model Home, Inc. has held California contractor license #927826 (B - General Building) since January 2009. Owner Dustin Roller is the license's qualifying individual. Our kitchen work ranges from a cabinet refresh on Grand Ave in Carlsbad to a year-long remodel that needed new footings poured in a post-tension slab.

Experience shows before demolition starts. On Gold Flower Rd in Carlsbad, a referral to refinish a floor turned out to be hidden water damage. Dustin measured high moisture, the leak detection company he works with found an active leak, and insurance approved new floors and a new kitchen. Read the whole story in his words on the Gold Flower Rd project page.

We also run a flooring and cabinetry showroom, so we know the materials as well as the build: the cabinet lines we sell and install, the countertops we source from Arizona Tile, MSI and natural stone like quartzite and marble, and the flooring that goes in around them.

Kitchen Remodeling Projects

Four kitchens we have remodeled in Carlsbad, Oceanside and Lake San Marcos, from a cabinet refresh to a new kitchen in a whole-home remodel.

Lake San Marcos

A new kitchen in a 2026 whole-home remodel. Cream raised-panel cabinets and speckled granite gave way to white cabinets with black hardware, white stone-look countertops, a tile backsplash, black pendant lights and plank floors.

Ivy Ranch, Oceanside

Natural wood cabinetry, white veined countertops and a long island, with the range set under an arched hood lined in patterned tile. We also built a home bar into an arched niche to match.

Gold Flower Rd, Carlsbad

A new kitchen in a year-long remodel that began with a hidden leak. We worked with a design team on the architectural and structural plans, pulled every permit, and handled every trade through to completion.

Planning your kitchen

How a Kitchen Remodel Works

  1. Design

We start with how you use your kitchen and plan the layout, cabinetry and finishes with you. If you already have a designer or architect, we work with them. On Gold Flower Rd in Carlsbad, we worked alongside a design team on the architectural and structural plans.

  2. Materials

Choose cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring and hardware at our San Marcos showroom. Cabinets range from our own RTA line to MasterBrand and MasterCraft semi-custom and full custom built to your kitchen's measurements. For countertops we often use Arizona Tile, MSI, quartzite and marble, and we can source any brand.

  3. Plans and permits

When your kitchen needs permits, we pull them and handle the inspections. You don't have to deal with the permit office yourself.

  4. Build

Demolition, framing, plumbing and electrical as the design calls for, then cabinet installation, countertops, backsplash tile, flooring, trim and paint, scheduled in order by one contractor.

  5. Completion

We stay with your project until the kitchen is finished.

Compare cabinet options: custom kitchen cabinets, semi-custom cabinets and RTA cabinets. Finish the room with hardwood or waterproof flooring, tile and trim. Remodeling more than the kitchen? Kitchen Remodeling Questions

Do you remodel kitchens in San Marcos and Carlsbad?

Yes. Model Home, Inc. is based in San Marcos and remodels kitchens in San Marcos, San Elijo Hills, Lake San Marcos, Carlsbad, Encinitas, Rancho Santa Fe, Del Mar, Oceanside and parts of Escondido. See the new kitchen in our Lake San Marcos whole-home remodel, and our local pages for San Marcos and Carlsbad, including how permits work in each.

Do you handle the design and the permits?

Yes. We plan the design with you, or with your designer or architect, and when a kitchen needs permits we pull them and handle the inspections. We are involved from the first plans to the finished kitchen.

How much does a kitchen remodel cost?

It depends on the size of the kitchen, whether walls, plumbing or electrical are moving, and the cabinets, countertops and finishes you choose. Keeping the layout and replacing finishes costs less than moving the sink or range. Send photos, rough measurements and what you want to change, and we will review the scope with you, at your home or in our showroom, and give you a free written estimate.

Can you update my kitchen without a full remodel?

Yes. On Grand Ave in Carlsbad we replaced two wine refrigerators with new cabinetry matched to the existing kitchen, painted the cabinets and added wallpaper. New cabinets, countertops or flooring on their own are also projects we take on.

Can I see cabinets and countertops in person?

Yes. Compare cabinets, countertops, tile and flooring at our showroom at 1070 Commerce St, Suite F, San Marcos. Please call 760-682-5027 ahead to arrange a visit.
