Water damage
The material, the extent of the damage and moisture in the subfloor determine whether a floor can be saved. Model Home dries, sands and refinishes hardwood that can be saved, and replaces flooring that cannot, including on insurance-claim projects.
Have the floor and subfloor moisture checked before deciding on repair or replacement. Read more about water-damaged hardwood and vinyl plank and trapped water.
If a leak is active, make the area safe, photograph the damage, call your insurer and get drying started promptly. The EPA recommends drying water-damaged areas and items within 24 to 48 hours to help prevent mold growth.
How it works
1. Tell us about your rooms. Estimates are free, at your home or in our showroom. Send your project city, approximate room sizes, photos of the existing floor and any stairs, and your preferred timing. Tell us whether old flooring needs to be removed.
2. Compare materials. Visit our showroom to compare color, texture and finish. Bring cabinet or countertop samples if you want to coordinate the room, or send the name of a product you would like us to source.
3. Review your quote and scope. Cost depends on the material, area, removal, subfloor preparation and finishing details. Before booking, we confirm the material, preparation and installation scope in writing. Ask us to review removal, baseboards, transitions and stair nosing for your rooms so you understand what is included.
4. Plan the installation. We confirm the schedule when we quote. Our installers lay the floor and complete the agreed finishing details. Our flooring installation services cover removal, subfloor preparation, the new floor and its trim.
Brands
Flooring brands we carry include Mohawk (hardwood, laminate and vinyl), Karastan, Pergo, California Classics, Provenza, Kährs, Bjelin, Azur Grande, Mannington, Anderson Tuftex, DuChateau and CALI. That isn't the full list. If you have a product in mind, send us the name and we'll check whether we can source it.

Carlsbad, California · Completed 2025
The Gold Flower Rd project began with a request to refinish solid Brazilian cherry flooring. Owner Dustin Roller found high moisture readings and swollen baseboards; a leak-detection company then identified an active leak. Insurance approved replacement floors and a new kitchen.
The finished project includes the new wide-plank wood floors shown here, alongside a rebuilt staircase and remodeled living spaces. See the before-and-after project for the original floors, finished rooms and the owner's account of the work.

Your flooring project
Porcelain tile is among the hardest-wearing floors. For a wood look, laminate generally resists scratches better than vinyl plank, while vinyl plank handles water better. We'll help you match the floor to the room at our showroom.

Yes. Model Home, Inc. supplies the flooring and the installation, including baseboards, transitions and stair nosing. Materials-only orders are also welcome.
It depends on the floor, the area and the subfloor. As a guide, about 1,000 square feet of vinyl plank takes 2 to 3 working days, and most whole-floor hardwood installs of 1,000 to 2,000 square feet take 3 to 7 working days with prefinished boards. We'll confirm the schedule for your rooms when we quote.
The material, square footage, removal of the existing floor, subfloor preparation, stairs and trim all affect the quote. Send photos and rough measurements to start, and ask us to explain the material and installation scope before you book.
